AMMAN – Jordanian footballer Ahmad Hayel on Tuesday assured his fans that he is in good health after suffering a head injury during a match in the Kuwaiti league.

In remarks on the Jordan Football Association (JFA) website, Hayel said he was injured during the league’s top match between his football club, Al Arabi, and Kuwait last Friday, noting that he received medical assistance immediately and left the pitch.

However, Hayel recounted that he suffered from dizziness at dawn on Tuesday and his wife contacted the club’s management who sent a team to take him to hospital.

The striker added that he will remain under medical supervision for some time, assuring his fans that he will be back with his Kuwaiti club and the national team soon.

Khaleel Ballam, Al Arabi’s manager, became emotional during a phone interview with a Kuwaiti television channel when he was explaining Hayel’s medical situation, calling on fans to pray for his recovery.

Ballam said the team booked tickets for the player and his wife to go back to Amman for treatment and they were supposed to leave on Tuesday morning but his condition did not make it possible to travel.

But he said on the JFA website that the footballer’s health condition is stable and there is nothing to be afraid of.

Ballam added that the team managed to obtain visas for a number of Hayel’s family members to travel to Kuwait and check on the footballer, who is also the national team’s top scorer.

Jordanian football fans expressed their concerns for Hayel, sharing the latest updates on his condition and photos of him on social media.

Lana Al Jaghbeer (‏@LanaAlJaghbeer), the secretary general of the Jordan Olympic Committee, said she is praying for his recovery.

“We express our heartfelt wishes for... Ahmad Hayel’s speedy recovery and return to the pitch,” she tweeted in Arabic.

Mohammad Obeidat (@‏mobeadat) said Hayel is a good player and deserves the best.

“Hayel is a self-made player and he implements social football projects in his village. Be safe captain #Ahmad_Hayel #Jordan,” he wrote in Arabic.

Anas Hijazi ‏(@anashijazie) also voiced his prayers for the player.

“Pray for the good, polite and Nashmi [brave] Jordanian player Ahmad Hayel. Many thanks to the people of Kuwait for caring for him,” he tweeted.
