AMMAN — Jordan and Algeria have signed seven cooperation agreements in the sectors of industry, mines, trade, public works, transport, youth, sports and culture, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Friday.

On the sidelines of the Jordanian-Algerian business forum held in Algiers, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and Algerian Minister of Commerce Mohamed Ben Mouradi discussed mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation in various economic fields by increasing the volume of inter-trade which does not exceed $200 million annually and the importance of activating the agreements signed between the two countries.

Qudah said that Jordan is keen on furthering economic cooperation with Algeria, stressing that Algeria is a "pivotal gateway" for African markets. He stressed the importance of activating the bilateral agreement signed in 1997.

Both ministers emphasised the joint efforts exerted to encourage the private sector to set up investment projects and benefit from the opportunities available in the two countries.
