Jordan condemns Israel’s approval of new settlement units in occupied Palestinian territories

AMMAN — Jordan on Thursday denounced Israeli authorities’ approval for the construction of settler units in the occupied Palestinian territories, warning that the move threatens peace efforts.

The ministry’s spokesperson Daifallah Fayez expressed rejection of the Israeli settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The Israeli settlement policy, including building and expanding settlement units, as well as activities related to land confiscation and displacing Palestinians, is an illegal and rejected policy that undermines chances for a just peace and the two-state solution, which is based on international legitimacy resolutions, Fayez added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
