‘Jordan, Saudi Arabia agree on Hajj arrangements’

AMMAN — Awqaf Minister Hayel Dawood announced on Thursday the arrangements for this year’s Hajj, the greater Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Dawood said the Kingdom and Saudi Arabia agreed on the arrangements for Jordanian and 1948 Palestinian pilgrims, which include changing the locations of Jordanians’ camps to better places in Mount Arafat and the tent village of Mina.
The minister said 24,200 citizens applied to perform the pilgrimage, but the Kingdom is allowed to send only 5,600 people. Hajj permits will be distributed at awqaf directorates in each governorate starting Sunday through August 1 from 9am to 6pm, Dawood said.
He added that those selected to perform Hajj have to bring their identification documents to receive the permits, Petra reported.
