AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday welcomed the extension of the humanitarian truce in Gaza for an additional two days.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah voiced the Kingdom’s appreciation for Qatar’s endeavours in advocating for an extension, in partnership with Egypt and the US, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He highlighted the importance of the extension as an “important step that can lead to ending to the war on Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians across the besieged strip”.
Qudah also said that the extension would also prevent forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, Petra said.
Qatar announced on Monday that talks with Israel and Hamas had resulted in extending the temporary truce in Gaza for additional 48 hours.
The pause in fighting had been due to expire on Monday night.
