AMMAN — Ministry of Transport Secretary-General Fares Abu Dayyeh on Monday held a virtual coordination meeting with Saudi Undersecretary for Railway Transport Bader Al Hujailan to discuss enhancing cooperation in railway projects and regional connectivity.
During the meeting, which included technical delegations from both sides, Abu Dayyeh underscored the shared commitment to advancing integration within the transport sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He highlighted the “strategic” importance of railway links in bolstering trade and facilitating the seamless flow of goods between the two kingdoms and the wider region.
The Saudi officials provided an overview of key initiatives, including the "East Train" and the "North Train" projects, the latter of which reaches the Jordanian border.
They also noted the readiness of the Al Qurayyat area for railway interconnection.
For its part, the Jordanian delegation presented the framework of the National Railway Network project and its primary implementation priorities.
The two sides went over several technical and logistical issues, focusing on the standardisation of technical specifications and the exchange of relevant studies and documentation to ensure implementation efficiency.
The Jordanian and Saudi officials also agreed to maintain ongoing coordination and information sharing to support joint railway connectivity projects and enhance regional integration within the transport sector.
