Khasawneh mourns passing of former PM Fayez Tarawneh

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday mourned the passing of former prime minister Fayez Tarawneh, paying tribute to his distinguished contributions to the homeland. Tarawneh passed away on Wednesday at the age of 72. He served as prime minister twice, from 1998 to1999 and in 2012. He also served as head of the Royal Hashemite Court in 1998.

Tarawneh also assumed several ministerial positions; in 1988 he served as Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, and in 1997-1998 served as Foreign Minister. He held a PhD in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MA in Economics from the same university, and a BA in Economics from the University of Jordan. 

Senate President Faisal Fayez and Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi also extended their condolences to the Tarawneh family, recalling his contributions to the nation, Petra added.
