AMMAN — Mobile telecommunications subscriptions in Jordan rose by 3.4 per cent to 8.3 million during the first quarter of 2026, up from 8.03 million in the corresponding period of 2025, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC).
The TRC said that internet subscriptions also recorded modest growth, increasing to 829,000 from 818,000 a year earlier, Al Mamlaka TV reported.
Fixed-line voice subscriptions declined by 3.9 per cent to 465,000, down from 484,000 in the first quarter of 2025. Residential subscribers accounted for 68 per cent of the total, while commercial users represented the remaining 32 per cent.
The report also showed that mobile broadband subscriptions reached 8.3 million, reflecting continued growth in the mobile communications market. Prepaid services accounted for 62 per cent of subscriptions, while postpaid plans represented 38 per cent.
Meanwhile, fifth-generation (5G) mobile services continued to expand rapidly, with subscriptions climbing to 433,400 during the first quarter of 2026.
The figure represents a 35 per cent increase from 320,700 subscriptions in the fourth quarter of 2025 and a 95 per cent jump from 221,900 recorded in the first quarter of last year.
Leased-line services continued to edge down, with subscriptions declining by 0.8 per cent to 24,300, compared with 24,500 in the corresponding period of 2025.
