'NAF urgent aid programme has assisted over 5,000 families this year'

AMMAN — National Aid Fund (NAF) Director General Omar Mashagbeh has said that a total of 5,071 families have benefited from the fund’s urgent aid programme during the first half of the year at a cost of JD625,000.

Mashagbeh, in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, noted that the programme provides up to JD350 in urgent financial assistance for family’s who experience a death.

He added that this financial support also covers families affected by tribal jalwa (forced relocation), families who have lost their main source of income, families whose house has burned down or who were affected by natural disasters excluding draught, as well as families whose breadwinner has been arrested or detained. The programme stipulates that the aid must be granted at least 30 days after date of arrest or detention.
