AMMAN — The Ministry of Social Development on Thursday organised a seminar about Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Prize for  Best Charity Performance in the Arab world, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The seminar was organised in cooperation with the Arab Administrative Development Organisation and Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Foundation for Humanitarian Development.

The prize aims at improving the performance of charities in the Arab world and the level of their services as well as encouraging creative solutions for the problems that face the humanitarian development in the region, Petra said.

The value of the prize is $300,000, of which $150,000 is evenly divided between three large charities, $90,000 to medium-sized charities and $60, 000 to three small ones.

During the opening ceremony, Social Development Minister Hala Lattouf underlined the importance of the charity and voluntary works in enhancing solidarity among people and creating positive changes in societies.

Lattouf expressed her appreciation for having an Arab prize that stimulates charity and volunteering in the Arab World through competing, stressing that charity through charities has bigger influence because it’s teamwork, advising the present charities to participate in this prize, and to try and win within each category of the charities.

Also on Wednesday, Lattouf, deputising for Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, participated in the “Adventures of Looney Balloony Festival”, organised by UNICEF and the National Council for Family Affairs as part of campaign to reduce violence against children.
