AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Monday approved, upon the recommendation of Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, the criteria for financial assistance for the return of Jordanians stranded oversees.

Jordanians who held non-leadership positions abroad with salaries no more than JD1,000 and whose services have been terminated over the last four months are eligible for financial assistance for travel, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Large families, notably those that have not spent long time in the country of residence, are also eligible for financial assistance for their return, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Priority has also been given to Jordanian expatriates who are sick and humanitarian cases that need to return home but lack sufficient funds for travel.

The criteria also apply to Jordanian citizens who are stranded abroad and have not yet been able to return within the previous stages of repatriation. Embassies recommendations will be taken into consideration in this regard, Petra said.

Teachers and trainers, among others, who work in non-supervisory or non-leadership positions, and freed prisoners are eligible for financial assistance, according to Petra.
