PM, Turkish FM talk economic cooperation agreement

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al  Khasawneh on Tuesday met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and discussed ways to bolster cooperation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, Khasawneh stressed the depth of relations between Jordan and Turkey and the keenness to strengthen commercial, investment and tourism cooperation to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples. 

The prime minister stressed that the Turkey’s recent ratification of the economic cooperation agreement with Jordan will contribute to new opportunities for cooperation between the countries. 

It was agreed that the Turkish minister of trade would visit the Kingdom in the near future to discuss activating this agreement and identify priorities for economic cooperation between the countries.

The prime minister expressed condolences over the victims of the recent fires and floods in Turkey, reiterating Jordan's solidarity with Ankara to overcome their effects. 

The Turkish foreign minister highlighted the strong relations between the countries and their keenness to enhance the volume of trade exchanges.

He pointed out that the Turkish government encourages Turkish companies to invest in Jordan.

The meeting also focused on developments in the region, efforts to enhance security and stability, and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
