AMMAN — Police on Saturday said they were searching for suspects in a drive-by shooting in Northern Badia, which left one person dead and another in a critical condition, official sources said.

The two victims were walking in the street when a vehicle approached them and opened fire striking down both men, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.

“One of the victims died on the spot, while the second was rushed to the hospital in critical condition,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.

The police official said authorities have spoken to witnesses and have issued an all-points bulletin with the vehicle’s description.

Saturday’s incident is the sixth homicide to take place in the Kingdom in less than a week.

On Friday, a minor stabbed and killed a man in Khirbet Al Souq following a heated argument, according to a senior judicial source.

“The suspect was arrested and referred to the juvenile court prosecutor for questioning and indictment,” the judicial source told The Jordan Times.

On Thursday, a father turned himself in Mafraq, confessing to having murdered his 19-year-old son following a heated argument, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) statement.

The father reportedly told investigators that he “struck his son with a blunt object on his head killing him instantly”, the PSD statement said. The death of the young man was confirmed in a separate police report.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly shooting his two brothers, killing one and injuring the other, in Balqa Governorate’s Ain Basha district, near Salt, as a result of old feuds.

“The second victim remains hospitalised in critical condition,” the senior judicial source said.

On Monday, a man was allegedly shot by his relative in Shafa Badran over financial feuds. The incident resulted in riots that led to the death of another person, due to suffocation. The suspect in the first killing was arrested and charged with premeditated murder.
