AMMAN — Police on Wednesday said they are searching for a 52-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his younger sister in the Jordan Valley late Tuesday night, official sources said.
The 34-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her brother while at home in South Shuneh, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
The suspect allegedly fled from the house afterwards, Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
“We are currently searching for the suspect and we will surely apprehend him and bring him in for questioning,” the police official added.
Sartawi said that initial investigations indicated that the suspect “stabbed his sister following a domestic dispute.”
“It seems that they had a heated argument, but family honour is ruled out for the time being,” he added.
The victim was reportedly stabbed multiple times in the stomach and was admitted to hospital in critical condition, a second source told The Jordan Times.
“The victim is currently in the intensive care unit and her chances of survival are slim,” the second source added.
