AMMAN — HRH Princess Alia on Wednesday visited the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and met with its Director Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Maaytah.
The meeting focused on the PSD’s efforts across various sectors, particularly the role played by the Royal Department for Environmental Protection (Rangers) in safeguarding the environment, protecting nature, and enhancing sustainability, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Princess Alia commended the PSD’s specialised efforts, through Rangers, in environmental monitoring and wildlife protection.
She highlighted the department’s work in protecting endangered migratory birds and combating poaching and environmental violations.
Her Royal Highness also praised the PSD’s role in promoting environmental culture and raising public awareness on the importance of conservation.
Princess Alia underscored the necessity of integrating national and institutional efforts to address environmental challenges, noting that protecting the environment and wildlife is a national responsibility that requires collective action from both institutions and individuals to preserve natural heritage for future generations.
For his part, Maaitah stressed that the PSD continues to implement its environmental and awareness programmes through a participatory approach with various national institutions.
He added that this strategy aims to boost the protection of natural resources and biodiversity, prevent violations, and enforce environmental laws to achieve national visions for conservation.
The PSD director also referred to additional measures taken by the department to monitor cyberspace for environmental violations and take necessary legal action.
On the sidelines of the visit, Princess Alia honoured several personnel from Rangers in recognition of their distinguished efforts in protecting the environment, nature and wildlife, as well as their active role in executing environmental awareness and monitoring campaigns across the Kingdom.
