AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, chairperson of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) board of trustees, has stressed the important role of youth committees in development centres of the fund in enhancing the youth’s role in society and providing them with skills that can enable them to play an effective role in the comprehensive and sustainable development process.

During a meeting with several members of these committees, in the presence of JOHUD Executive Director Farah Daghistani, Princess Basma commended the success stories through the fund’s 45 years of activities, especially that these stories have shown the Jordanian youth’s ability to face challenges and changing them into opportunities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The princess also stressed JOHUD’s keenness to contribute to providing a proper environment for youth development, exploring their capabilities and talents, and providing all means of success and excellence.

She also checked on JOHUD’s future plans for institutional transformation towards environmental governance through JOHUD’s main work aspects, which include governance and participation, innovation and opportunities, protection and integration, and the role of youth in these aspects.

Princess Basma also noted that the network of 51 JOHUD centres, thanks to their spread across the Kingdom and adjacency to local communities, have become incubators for the Jordanian youth and their aspirations and play an important role in raising their awareness, developing their skills and helping them plan for their future.

Participants in the meeting from the youth committees spoke about their experiences in JOHUD development centres in various governorates and districts of the Kingdom, stressing that these centres form an attractive and encouraging environment for them, in addition to a platform to explore their skills and potential.

They also said that youth committees contribute to enhancing the development role of JOHUD towards local communities and contributing to their development in various fields.
