AMMAN — Under the patronage of HRH Princess Reem Ali, the University of Jordan on Tuesday held a celebration for the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The celebration was organised by the Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies in cooperation with the Indian embassy in Amman and the Jordan-India Friendship Society.

Princess Reem pointed out that Gandhi believed that peaceful resistance, albeit long and challenging, is capable of producing better and more stable results to achieve independence and lasting peace.

India’s Ambassador to Jordan Shubhdarshini Tripathi added that the occasion is annually celebrated around the world, because Gandhi’s teachings and ideas deserve research and reflection.
