AMMAN — The eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, including the Kingdom, will be affected by an air depression accompanied by a cold and moist air mass of central European origin, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The JMD also forecast temperatures to decrease on Tuesday, reaching a high of 18°C during the day and dropping to a low of 6°C at night.

Jordan’s western regions are expected to witness rain, its four-day weather forecast showed, adding that the downpour will gradually expand to include all regions across the Kingdom.

Rainfall is predicted to be heavy, at times accompanied by thunder and hail in some areas, leading to the formation of floods in valleys and lowlands, including Aqaba and the Dead Sea, the report stated.

Arabia Weather, a weather forecasting company, predicted a westerly to southwesterly wind of a moderate speed that gradually increases on Tuesday, accompanied by strong gusts during the afternoon hours, leading to the formation of heavy dust in desert areas, especially ahead of rainfall.

At night, rainfall is forecast to continue intermittently in different regions across the Kingdom, sometimes accompanied by thunder in the southern and eastern regions, while a heavy downpour of rain accompanied by hail and active winds is expected in desert areas, according to Arabia Weather.

The report also predicted that temperatures will remain 5°C to 7°C above their seasonal average with warm weather prevailing in most regions, while desert areas will witness unstable weather conditions marked by scattered showers of rain during the afternoon hours.

According to the JMD, temperatures in Amman on Sunday are forecast to range between a high of 22°C and low of 9°C, while on Monday temperatures are expected to reach a high of 20°C during the day, dropping to a low of 8°C at night.

Arabia Weather said that temperatures will witness a slight decrease on Monday, remaining 3°C to 5°C above their seasonal average, with the possibility of scattered rain showers in the Kingdom’s northern and eastern regions.

There is a chance for scattered showers of rain after midnight and during the early morning hours in parts of the Kingdom’s western region, including Aqaba city, it added.
