AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Youssef Issawi on Monday, at the Royal Hashemite Court, met a delegation from the Jordan Karate Federation and a number of national team players who have achieved accomplishments in world and Asian championships.

At the beginning of the meeting, Issawi conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings to attendees, and to all Jordanian athletes, expressing His Majesty’s pride and appreciation for their pioneering achievements, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Issawi referred to His Majesty’s great interest in Jordanian sports and his continuous directives to support clubs and national teams, and to motivate players to represent the nation and achieve success in various Arab and international sporting events.

He said that Jordanian sports are witnessing a “qualitative and promising leap”, especially as they have made a distinguished presence in all sporting events.

Issawi added that His Majesty views young people as the “present and future of the nation”, and that he always stresses the necessity of supporting them, benefiting from their capabilities and creativity, honing their skills, and actively participating in the process of giving and achievement.

Issawi noted that what Jordanian sports have achieved and continue to achieve embodies the “will of the youth”, and their constant pursuit of competition and achieving outstanding results.

Manar Shaath, acting president of the federation, said that King Abdullah’s continuous support and interest in Jordanian sports are a source of inspiration, incentive, and motivation for Jordanian athletes to achieve further excellence.

Shaath reviewed the most prominent achievements by the national karate team players in international and Asian championships, referring to Jordan’s historic achievement of winning first place globally in the combat group at the World Karate Senior Championships held recently in Hungary.
