RSCN holds meeting on sustainable development of Socotra archipelago

AMMAN — The steering committee for the comprehensive support programme for sustainable development of the Socotra archipelago held a meeting in Ajloun Nature Forest Reserve in the presence of members of the committee and the programme administration at the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN).

The RSCN signed an agreement with United Nations Environment Programme, with the support of the Global Environment Facility and the cooperation of the Yemeni Public Environment Authority to implement the second phase of the programme in the Socotra archipelago, according to a RSCN statement.

Nashat Hmeidan, director of the biodiversity monitoring centre at the RSCN and director of the Socotra project said that the meeting is aimed to acquaint committee members with the recent achievements, including assessing development needs for local communities.
