RSCN launches booklet on regions of botanical importance

AMMAN — The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) on Wednesday launched a booklet titled “Important Plant Area (IPA) in Jordan”.
As part of the RSCN efforts to protect nature, the booklet, for specialists and non-specialists alike, identifies the regions of botanical importance in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The booklet said that Umm Qais, Yarmouk, Malka, Ajloun mountains and Ashtafina, Sacep mountains, Gersh and Balqa, Dana, Shubak and Petra are regions of botanical importance.
Jordan has 2,543 species of plants that represent 1 per cent of the world’s species estimated at 250,000.
