Shawarbeh meets with Greek Orthodox Archbishop

AMMAN — Greek Orthodox Archbishop and Head of the Jordan Churches Council Bishop Christophoros Attallah on Saturday received Mayor of Greater Amman Municipality Yousef Shawarbeh to discuss the controversial statement issued by the municipality.

During the meeting attended by a number of bishops and members of the Parliament, Christophoros Attallah and the gathering condemned the statement that caused a lot of hurt for feelings of the Jordanian society.

Shawarbeh stressed that the GAM respects all religions and reject being offensive for any religion, stressing that all citizens are equal under the constitution.

He also expressed the GAM apology for all Jordanians for the hurt the statement has caused.
