AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul on Tuesday attended the conclusion of the second version of the “Peace Media” training programme that was organised by Generations For Peace, a leading global non-profit peace-building organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal in 2007.

Organised in cooperation with the US embassy in Amman, the event witnessed the participation of some 100 journalists working in the Jordanian media outlets and media departments of public, private and NGOs institutions, in addition to students majoring in journalism and media.

Shboul, who is also the government spokesperson, in a recorded address, extended condolences over the victims of the toxic chlorine gas leak incident at the Aqaba port, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

He noted that the port city, including the dockside, ports, trade movement and tourism movement, has returned to normal, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He commended Generations For Peace's efforts, especially the Peace Media programme that focuses on instilling the values of peace building.

Jordan, under its wise leadership, is pushing towards peace, amid a region lacking real peace for seven decades, he said, stressing that there is no peace with the continuation of occupation.

Regional peace is fundamental to international peace, he noted.

Stefanie Altman-Winans, Counsellor for Public Affairs at the US embassy, highlighted that "the mission focuses on education because it enables learners to be an engine of positive change", expressing support for young professionals to become leaders in various fields.
