AMMAN — Police on Tuesday arrested a suspect who reportedly conned a number of people by claiming to have a real estate company.
The Public Security Department (PSD) said in a statement released Tuesday that its criminal investigation unit received complaints that a man had been advertising for his company in daily newspapers, claiming to offer financial facilities for those interested in purchasing real estate and land.
Several victims said they realised the suspect had been lying after they paid him money in down payments.
Further investigation led to the suspect, who was found to have a record of 15 previous counts.
He confessed to working with five accomplices.
