Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate holds first local security council meeting in Zaatari Camp

AMMAN — The Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate held on Tuesday its first local security council meeting in Zaatari Camp. The meeting, chaired by the director of the Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate, marked the launch of the council comprising representatives from the camp's residents. It represents a distinctive community policing initiative aimed at achieving community participation, spreading awareness and security education, and reinforcing tranquility and the rule of law. The meeting, attended by the director of the PSD's Media and Community Police Department and the deputy representative of the UN high commissioner for refugees in Jordan, discussed the mechanisms of operation of the first local security council in refugee camps, its duties, and the nature of the partnership between the council and the community police in direct coordination with the Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate.
