Thiban to begin construction of ‘world’s longest cable car’ — mayor

AMMAN — Mayor of Thiban municipality Adel Janadbeh on Sunday said that construction is set to begin on the world’s longest chairlift line, at 3,700 metres. The municipality will build the line at a cost of JD250,000, also constructing a touristic complex in cooperation with a private investor from the area, the mayor told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The complex will include chalets, tourist camps and swimming pools for adventure lovers. Janadbeh added that a factory producing medical supplies for kidney dialysis patients is to be opened by the end of 2019 at a cost of JD2 million. The factory will be built on a plot of land given by the municipality to an investor to provide 130 employment opportunities for residents of Thiban.
