Tourism board promoting Kingdom’s attractions in South Korea

AMMAN — Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) is currently holding a mobile tourist exhibition in the South Korean capital Seoul, a JTB statement said Thursday.  

JTB Director General Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat said the exhibition comes as part of the board’s promotional plan for this year, which aims at introducing Korean travel agencies to Jordan’s tourist products and their unique and diverse features. 

The South Korean market is one of the most important and promising markets especially in the field of Christian tourism, the statement said. 

“We seek to expand marketing channels in the South Korean market to attract as many tourists as possible,” Arabiyat added.

Jordanian tourism attaché and the director of JTB’s office in the UAE, Yazan Khdeir, asserted the importance of the strategic partnership with Etihad Airways in promoting Jordan, especially in markets that lack direct flights to Jordan such as South Korea.

JTB has launched the exhibition in cooperation with Etihad Airways in line with a memorandum of understanding they signed last January to promote Jordan as a tourist destination in South Korea.

The memo also entails conducting various promotional activities, such as inviting a number of South Korean journalists to visit the Kingdom and get acquainted with its tourist attractions, the statement said.  

The JTB added that the exhibition has gained “great interest” and broad participation from South Korean travel agencies and media people.

Arabiyat commended the role of Jordan’s Ambassador in Seoul Omar Al Nahar in promoting the Kingdom’s tourist attractions, thanking him and the embassy’s staff for their support to the JTB in South Korea.

This month, the JTB launched a summer campaign in the Gulf market under the motto “Yes, it’s Jordan”, to promote the Kingdom’s attractions. 

 

The campaign was announced ahead of the summer season to give Arab guests enough time to choose Jordan as their destination. It includes billboard advertisements and television and radio commercials.
