Tree plantation ceremony held to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, Jordan’s centenary

AMMAN — Towards observance of 75 years of India’s independence (#AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, India@75), which coincided with the centenary of Jordan, the Indian embassy in Amman on Wednesday organised a tree plantation ceremony in collaboration with Al Isra University.

 

Seventy-five saplings were planted in the university garden to commemorate the occasions, a statement from the Indian embassy said.

In his remarks, India’s Ambassador to Jordan Anwar Haleem reiterated the historic, close and friendly relations between Jordan and India under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The ambassador conveyed his greeting to the government and the people of Jordan on the centenary of Jordan. 

He also shared with the gathering the details of various courses offered by the government of India through its flagship capacity-building programme, ITEC, and other scholarships schemes for Jordanian nationals and encouraged them to benefit from it. 

For his part, President of Al Isra University Ahmad Nuseirat extended greetings to the people and the government of India on 75 years of India’s independence.  He called for greater cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, scientific research and development.
