AMMAN — UNRWA Jordan will provide one-time cash assistance to support Palestine refugees from the Gaza Strip living in Jerash camp in order to alleviate the hardship caused by the loss of livelihood opportunities due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a statement from the UN agency.

Approximately 20,500 registered refugees will receive one-time cash assistance of JD50 per person per family in accordance with the following criteria: Female-headed households, families headed by an elderly person (60 years and above), families headed by a person with disabilities and families with at least one child under the age of five years.

The cash distribution will be implemented during the month of Ramadan from April 27 to May 20, the statement said.

UNRWA is keen to cooperate with the Department of Palestine Affairs and the camp improvement services committee to ensure the safe and organised distribution of the cash to the eligible families at Jerash Camp, read the statement.

Those who believe that they are eligible for assistance and have not been invited to receive it may submit an appeal application at the following link: https://forms.gle/WgwALNWmeBFXpqhR8 from May 7 until May 12.

Appeal applications received after that date will not be considered, the statement said.

A group of volunteers will deliver a card with a serial number to each eligible person’s home and they will be contacted to determine the date and time for receiving the cash assistance, concluded the statement.
