Workshop held on promoting sustainable development

AMMAN — The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has conducted a specialised workshop in Amman to improve consultation and coordination among liaison officers in the member countries of the West Asia and North Africa region.
During his opening remarks, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Marwan Rifai highlighted the important role of the facility in supporting initiatives that mitigate the devastating effects of climate change, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.
Since its establishment in 1991, the GEF has been dedicated to safeguarding the global environment and promoting sustainable development. The GEF includes 183 countries, including Jordan, alongside private sector institutions, civil society organisations, and international institutions.
