IKEA recalls PATRULL safety gates

Jun 22,2016 - Last updated at Jun 22,2016

IKEA has received customer reports where PATRULL safety gates have opened unexpectedly and children have fallen down stairs.

Some of the incidents have required medical attention. A third party investigation has shown that the locking mechanism is not reliable, posing a risk for small children, despite approved tests to applicable standards.

“At IKEA, we have a zero tolerance regarding child safety. We want to offer safe and healthy products and we think that children are the most important people in the world.

Whenever we get indications of a possible safety issue with any of our products, we act. We cannot accept that there is a risk of injury while playing and as an immediate and precautionary action we recall all PATRULL safety gates,” says Maria Thörn, the acting business area manager at Children´s IKEA.

IKEA is not willing to risk children´s safety and, therefore, urges all customers that have a PATRULL safety gate to immediately stop using it and to bring it back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

Partnership to empower individuals and communities across the Kingdom renewed

May 16,2016 - Last updated at May 16,2016

With a focus on advocating women’s empowerment and social justice for women and refugees in Jordan, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) – Legal Aid and Al Marji’ Publications have recently renewed their partnership agreement for the third consecutive year.“Our role as a civil society organisation will only have an impact on the ground with the support of the media. Our partnership with Al Marji’ Publications over the years has been a crucial pillar in engaging the public with issues facing our country and understanding the context, said ARDD-Legal Aid Gender and Media Unit Manager Lana Zananiri at the signing.

“Access to justice is a basic right for everyone, but financial, cultural and political challenges often make it difficult or impossible,” said Laura Haddad, the manager-in-charge at Family Flavours parenting magazine.

“This partnership with ARDD-Legal Aid is thus very important to raise public awareness so that families all over Jordan are safe and able to thrive.” Under the agreement, readers of Jordan’s only parenting magazines, Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailyieh, can find out about success stories of women rising above their challenging circumstances and becoming productive members in their families and society.
