Major artists from the worlds of classical and popular music attended a charity concert in honour of the late Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti at the archaeological site of Petra on Sunday. The concert was attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania and HRH Princess Haya. In addition a large crowd of international celebrities including Pavarotti's second wife Nicoletta and British musician Sting gathered at the historical site to pay tribute to the artist. The event, which also coincides with Pavarotti’s birthday, was a memorial charity concert that raised money for projects in Afghanistan by UNHCR and the UN World Food Programme.
