50% of working Jordanian engineers based in Gulf region — Halaseh

AMMAN — Minister of Public Works and Housing Sami Halaseh on Sunday met with Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) President Majid Tabba and council members to discuss issues related to the profession.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Halaseh stressed the need for partnerships between universities and the syndicate to match education outputs with the needs of the domestic and regional labour market.

The minister said the number of registered Jordanian engineers is around 125,000, nearly 110,000 of whom are working.

According to Halaseh, around 50 per cent of the working engineers are based in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. He also indicated that the government will work on stimulating the construction and housing sectors.
