AMMAN — Albanian President Bujar Nishani and his wife on Tuesday arrived on an official visit to the Kingdom, during which the leader is scheduled to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international developments with His Majesty King Abdullah, a Royal Court statement said.

During his several-day visit, Nishani is also scheduled to hold meetings with several senior officials.

Various officials and officers received the Albanian president at Queen Alia International Airport.

King Abdullah met with Nishani in Tirana in May 2015, during which they discussed bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual concern.

Nishani remarked that King Abdullah’s visit was a fruitful opportunity to develop bilateral relations at different levels.

He noted that his country sees Jordan as an oasis of peace and stability and a gateway to the region, in terms of economic and investment plans, in addition to its important political role in regional and international issues.

At a press conference following the talks, the King said: “Our common values, shared outlook and close proximity give us ample reason to believe that we will be able to work together to create a prosperous future for our people.”

“Indeed, our talks today moved our countries closer towards building greater bilateral cooperation and exchanges. Jordan is keen to see this relationship advance and strengthen,” the King said.

“Albania, a country of Muslims and Christians living side-by-side, like Jordan, knows that what is more essential than the military battle, is the battle of hearts and minds to spread the messages of tolerance, moderation and religious coexistence.”

Nishani said there are a lot of fields where both countries can develop bilateral relations, especially at the economic, tourism, scientific and educational levels.

The King also met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and discussed with him ways to enhance Jordanian-Albanian ties in different fields.

King Abdullah acquainted Rama with Jordan’s safe environment that can be utilised to build future partnerships and investments, in addition to the Kingdom’s qualified human resources that contributed to placing Jordan among top countries in achieving regional prosperity and progress.
