Awqaf Ministry marks start of World Interfaith Harmony Week

AMMAN — The Awqaf Ministry on Tuesday marked the start of the World Interfaith Harmony Week. Awqaf Minister Wael Arabiyat, who attended the celebration on behalf of Prime Minister Hani Mulki, said that humanity can find great values in religions, which honour humans regardless of their colour, gender, ethnicity or faith, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The annual event was firstly proposed at the UN General Assembly on September 23, 2010, by His Majesty King Abdullah, and it is marked in the first week of February. The director of the Jordanian Interfaith Coexistence Research Centre, Father Nabil Haddad, said that preserving harmony is the responsibility of all and a sacred mission for religious institutions.
