AMMAN — The Cabinet on Monday set four conditions to grant investors nationality or permanent residency, a senior official announced.

At a press conference following a Cabinet meeting, State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said that investors are offered a list of scenarios, each of which makes them eligible for citizenship, including a zero-interest, five-year $1.5 million deposit at the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), or buying treasury bonds valued the same amount at an interest rate to be decided by CBJ and for a period not less than 10 years.

The third option for the investor is to buy securities, also at $1.5 million, from an active investment portfolio, while he/she can invest $1 million in SMEs for five years at least to become a Jordanian national. The fifth scenario is a $2 million investment in any location in the country, or $1.5 million if the project is registered in any governorate other than Amman, provided such a project creates at least 20 job opportunities and remains operational for at least three years.

To obtain permanent residency, any non-Jordanian can buy a property worth no less than JD200,000, provided that the Lands and Survey Department confirms the value, for 10 years without selling the property in question or dispose it in any manner.

Based on the two points above, any investor who obtains any of the said two statuses will have the right to obtain a similar status for wife, unmarried, widowed or divorced daughters, sons who are below 18 years old and parents if he or she were the sole supporters of them.

Momani added that the criteria will be applied to 500 cases annually after a security clearance and checking on financial adequacy, and in case of violations to any of the conditions, the citizenship will be revoked and residency cancelled.

THANKS TO J.SAWALHA. YOU ARE WHAT YOU, A CHAMPION HUMAN RIGHTS, HUMANITY, LOVES YOUR YOUR PEOPLE MEN OR WOMEN AND HAVE THE COURAGE TO VENT YOUR DISMAY ON HOW JORDAN SEES THEIR DAUGHTERS, WIFES, MOTHERS RELATIVE TO JORDANIAN MEN WHO ARE THE JUDGES AND JURRY THAT MANIPULATE WOMEN, KILL THEM FOR HONOR OR DISHONOR. WHAT IS MORE CRUDE THAN CRUDE OIL WHICH IS THE BEST ADJECTIVE TO QUALIFY SELLING JORDAN PIECE BY PIECE FOR THE GREENBACK WHICH THEY VALUE MORE THAN THEIR GRAND CHILDREN. IT IS INDEED VERY SHAMEFUL AND I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY JORDANIAN WOMEN ARE TOLORATING THIS DARK AGES MENTALITY. I STILL DO NEED THE HONORABLE MINISTER TO RESPOND TO MY POSTING.

This is quite shocking when one realizes that Jordanian authorities won’t give the nationality to children of Jordanian women married to foreigners who still live in Jordan. So the greenback is more valuable than women of Jordan ....Shame on us!

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO HIS EXCELLENCY MINISTER MOMANI, I SHOULD ASK WHY JORDAN IS NOW FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST AND FAMOUS PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD BUT NOT YOUR BLOOD RELATIVES WHO HAS THE SAME RIGHTS TO CLAIM JORDAN AS THEIRS JUST LIKE YOU DO. DO NOT GET ME WRONG BECAUSE I AM NOT AGAINST THIS POLICY BUT THE FACT THAT YOU KEEPT YOUR GRAND CHILDREN OUT OF JORDAN SIMPLY BECAUSE THEIR FATHERS ARE NON JORDANIAN MEN EVEN THOUGH THEIR MOTHERS ARE JORDANIAN WOMEN AND THESE CHILDREN HAS THEIR GRAND PARENTS IN JORDAN, HAVE THEIR FRIENDS IN JORDAN AND IN FACT MOST OF THEM SPENT MOST OF THEIR LIVES IN JORDAN. RECENTLY, ONE SUCCESSFUL YOUNG "JORDANIAN" MAN WHO LIVES IN CARLIFONIA WITH HIS JORDANIAN MOTHER ASKED HIS MOTHER IF HE CAN GO BACK TO JORDAN AND RUN FOR MAYOR AND HIS MOTHER LAUGHED AND CALLED ME TO TELL HIS SON THAT HE IS DAY DREAMING BECAUSE HIS FATHER IS ITALIAN AND NOW THE HONORABLE MINISTER WANTS TO SELL JORDAN TO THE REAL NON JORDANIANS FOR MONEY. THIS IS HARAM AND VIOLETS ALL THE HUMAN RIGHT LAWS AND THE GENEVA PROTOCOLS. HONORABLE MINISTER, MONEY CAN NOT BUY LOVE NEVER MIND CITIZENSHIP. AT LEAST IN THIS POLICY, HE SHOULD HAVE ALSO CALLED UPON THE CHILDREN OF JORDANIAN MOTHER TO APPLY FOR THEIR JORDANIAN PASSPORTS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. THIS IS AN INSULT TO ALL JORDANIAN WOMEN AND HYPOCRICY OF THE FIRST ORDER IN ANY FORM OF PUBLIC POLICY. IF THE MINISTER THINKS THAT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY HE CAN STIMULATE THE BADLY NEEDED ECONOMIC UP-SWING, HE IS MAKING BOTH A TYPE ONE AND TWO ERRORS THAT HAS POTENTIAL FOR LOTS OF UN-INTENDED EFFECTS. THIS POLICY TODAY IS IN FACT A POLITICAL MISCALCULATIONS. BLOOD IS ALWAYS THICKER THAN WATER JUST AS IMMEDIATE GLORIFICATION WITH CASH IS A JOB DONE AGAINST FRICTION. DO ANY PERSON EVER THINK ABOUT SOME OF THESE POLICIES BEFORE THEY ROLL THEM OUT AFTER CONSIDERING ALL THE CONFOUNDING VARIABLES. JORDAN IS AND HAS REMAINED ONE OF THE FEW NATIONS THAT EXPELL THEIR GRAND CHILDREN SIMPLE BECAUSE THEIR FATHER IS AMERICAN, EUROPEAN, THE SAME COUNTRIES THAT IF THEY PULL THE PLUG ON ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE TO JORDAN TODAY WILL SEAL THE DEAL. I AM ASHAMED OF POLICIES WITHOUT RATIONAL DELIBRATIONS AND COSULTATIONS. I WILL LOVE A RESPONSE FOR THE HONORABLE MINISTER BECAUSE THESE CHILDREN THAT HE HAS BUILT HIS WALLS AGAINST ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW OF THE FREE WORLD JUST LIKE PRESIDENT OBAMA BECAME THE FIRST BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT OF USA.
