Jordanian student drowns off Algeria coast, another rescued

AMMAN — A Jordanian student has drowned off the Algerian coastal city of Oran, while another was rescued, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez said on Sunday.

The Jordanian embassy in Algeria informed the ministry that rescue teams managed to pull the two students out of the sea and took them to hospital, where one of them died.

The other student is in stable condition, the spokesperson added. The Jordanian consulate and cultural attaché in Algeria have taken the necessary measures to repatriate the body upon the family's request, according to a ministry statement.
