AMMAN —Jordan's Lower House on Sunday voted to revoke the legal immunity of lawmaker Imad Adwan upon a request by the government and the State Security Court.

In April, the lawmaker was detained for questioning by the Israeli authorities over an alleged attempt to smuggle large quantities of weapons and gold.

Speaking to the press, Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi said the lawmaker has been released by Israel, adding that the Lower House revoked his immunity and that it fully trusts the impartial judicial authorities in the Kingdom.
