AMMAN — Journalists on Sunday staged sit-ins in front of their newspapers to protest against Israel's ongoing war against Gaza and to voice support for the besieged strip, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Journalists at newspapers, TV channels and other media outlets voiced their support for the Palestinian resistance. They also held placards reading: "Free Palestine" and Stop the genocide in Gaza".

The Jordanian Press Association (JPA) has called on its members to stage sit-ins in front their offices to show solidarity with Gaza and condemn the Israeli atrocities in the tiny costal enclave.

The Jordan Press Foundation, which publishes Al Rai and The Jordan Times dailies, organised a solidarity sit-in on Sunday in protest of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, according to Al Rai Arabic daily.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors Shehadeh Abu Baqar said: “The Jordanian Press Foundation today stands as an expression of their outrage over the crimes of the occupation against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, these acts involve conducting a genocidal war against unarmed civilians, women and children, as well as bombing hospitals and places of worship without adhering and respecting international humanitarian laws.”

For his part, Al Rai Editor in Chief Khaled Al Shaqran, said: “Our long-standing institution since its founding has been present and continues to support Arab causes, foremost among which is the Palestinian cause, through its thematic media coverage.”

Joined by administrators, journalists called for ending the massacres perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians in Gaza.

Other dailies responded to the JPA call and organised similar sit-ins in front of their offices.

Employees at the Jordan News Agency, Petra, organised a sit-in and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Employees at the Jordan Television and Radio Corporation organized a similar event to express solidarity with Gaza, where they also condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks against the Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere across occupied territories.

Employees of Ad Dustour and Al Ghad dailies also organised similar events.

JPA President Rakan Saaideh said that the syndicate will continue organising solidarity sit-ins in cooperation with other professional associations to condemn the Israeli occupation's atrocities against the Palestinian people.
