King receives Maronite Patriarch Al Rahi

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received Maronite Church Patriarch Mar Bechara Al Rahi at Basman Palace.

The meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, covered the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Lebanon, according to a Royal Court statement.

King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s solidarity and ongoing support for Lebanon in its efforts to overcome crises.

His Majesty said Jordan will continue all efforts to safeguard Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite Custodianship.

For his part, the Patriarch commended Jordan’s ongoing support for Lebanon and its people, expressing appreciation for the medical and humanitarian aid Jordan immediately provided to Lebanon after the Beirut port explosion two years ago.
