SOUTHERN MAZAR — A total of 30,074 Muslims visited the shrines of Prophet Mohammad’s companions in Southern Mazar District in Karak in 2014, compared with 28,869 in 2013, Osama Tarawneh, the sites’ supervisor, said Sunday.

Jaafar Bin Abi Taleb Mosque and the shrines of Jaafar Bin Abi Taleb, Zeid Bin Haretha and Abdullah Bin Rawaha — the leaders of the Mutah battle against the Byzantines in 629AD, who are buried there — underwent maintenance in 2014, Tarawneh added.
