AMMAN — The Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) 2018 continued for the second day with exhibitors showcasing the state-of-the-art military and civic products, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

HRH Prince Feisal, SOFEX's chairman of the board of directors, toured the expo's pavilions and was briefed on the products including military and operational equipment used for defence, special operations and anti-terrorism actions.

On the sidelines of the expo, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat met with a number of military leaders from the participating countries and discussed the latest regional and international developments and bilateral ties.

He outlined Jordan’s security role in the region.

The Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted the army commander as saying that the world is witnessing growing terrorism and extremism with various approaches, and, consequently, terrorism-related challenges have increased considerably over the past few years in the region.

Freihat urged collective international efforts using available means to counter the threat.

He said that SOFEX “is a testament to the the security and stability Jordan enjoys, leading the world to choose the Kingdom as the host of such an event”.

Established in 1996, SOFEX is specialised in defence and operational industries and national security.

This year, the event brought together more than 350 companies from 35 Arab and foreign countries to showcase their latest innovations.
