Prince Hashem attends funeral of General Shishani

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Prince Hashem on Wednesday attended the funeral of retired Major General Ahmad Shishani.

Shishani was laid to rest at the Chechen Cemetery in Zarqa in a military ceremony. Sharif Fawaz Bin Zaben, the King’s adviser for tribal affairs, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, former and current ministers and deputies, in addition to senior military officers also attended the service.

The deceased is the only officer who received the military Iqdam (bravery) Medal twice in the history of Jordan.

He is famous for the success in leading the operation to free hostages at the InterContinental Hotel in 1976 from terrorists who controlled the hotel.
