AMMAN — Protesters on Friday carried out a peaceful demonstration in Dhiban in protest against the government's decision to raise prices, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The protesters, after the Friday prayers, called for revoking the recent tax-hiking decisions that "burdened citizens and consumed their incomes", and demanded an alternative economic approach.
Also on Friday, protesters in Karak called on the government to back down from raising prices on bread and basic food goods, and to improve the living conditions of low-income citizens.
In Zarqa, protesters stressed the need to develop a new economic strategy that seeks to build a productive economy and promote self-reliance instead of resorting to taxes that burden citizens and increase their living expenses.
