AMMAN — Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Thursday discussed with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias aspects of coordination and cooperation in the face of COVID-19, with both countries voicing solidarity in dealing with the pandemic’s economic and social repercussions.
Safadi and Dendias affirmed mutual keenness on developing bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as trilateral work with Cyprus, in light of the partnership between the Kingdom and the European Union, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi and his Greek counterpart also discussed regional developments and efforts to overcome crises in the region.
On the Palestinian cause and the peace process, the two ministers reiterated that there is no alternative to the two-state solution to end the conflict based on international legitimacy resolutions.
The Foreign minister praised Greece's stance in support of the two-state solution, which lines up with the European stance refusing any change of the status quo and any annexation of Palestinian lands in violation of international law, the statement added.
Safadi warned against the annexation of lands in the Jordan Valley and north of the Dead Sea, stressing that such a move would “kill” the two-state solution, along with the chance for a just, comprehensive peace.
The two ministers stressed the importance of redoubling efforts to reach a political solution for the Syrian crisis, highlighting the need for the continuation of international support for Syrian refugees and their host countries.
