GDP dips by 3.6% in Q2 2020 — DoS

AMMAN — Jordan’s GDP declined by 3.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2020 compared with the same period of 2019, based on constant prices, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Sunday.

The DoS said that quarterly estimates indicate that most sectors of the economy showed drop in the second quarter, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The department also noted that the hospitality sector was the most hard-hit by the slowdown, decreasing by 13.4 per cent, followed by the transport, storage and telecommunications with -9.2 per cent, social and personal services with -6.4 per cent, constructions with -6.3 per cent and manufacturing industries with -5.3 per cent.
