JCC calls for revisiting gov't decision to impose fees on Egyptian imports

AMMAN — President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Nael Kabariti on Wednesday called for reconsidering a recent government decision to impose fees and new procedures for Egyptian imports to Jordan and transit through Aqaba port and Jordanian territories, which is expected to take effect as of September 1.

Kabariti stressed that the commercial sector supports the interests of the national economy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He added that the JCC respects the “reciprocity principle” to overcome obstacles imposed by Egypt on the transit of Jordanian commodities and their flow into the Egyptian market, stressing that the economic dimension should top the relevant decisions while taking the interests of various sectors rather one sector into consideration.
