AMMAN — The period to contest the results of the 18th Lower House elections started on Wednesday and will continue for 15 days, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced on Wednesday.
Mohammad Qatawneh, director of legal affairs at the IEC and the adviser of its board of commissioners, said voters have the right to file an objection against an MP at the court of appeal in their constituencies, according to an IEC statement.
Earlier in the day, the IEC published the list of winning MPs in the Official Gazette, allowing voters to contest MPs legitimacy within 15 days of the publication date, as stipulated in the Election Law.
Court decisions in such issues are final and cannot be objected, and courts have to issue their rulings within 30 days of registering the objection, the statement added.
