PM meets with Palestinian transport minister

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Khasawneh on Tuesday received Palestinian Transport Minister Assem Salem.
Khasawneh emphasised the “distinguished long-lasting” Jordanian -Palestinian relations, reiterating the Kingdom’s firm stance towards supporting the Palestinians to meet their legitimate rights to statehood on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution.
Jordan’s abilities and expertise are in support of the Palestinians towards enhancing their reliance on their soil, the premier said, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Commending the Kingdom’s stances, Salem expressed pride in the “deep-rooted” Palestinian-Jordanian relations, describing Jordan as Palestine’s gateway to the outside world, and highlighting the technical support offered by the Kingdom to the Palestinian ministries and institutions in several fields.
He also expressed keenness on availing Jordan's expertise in the field of transport, notably the use of smart applications, smart transport and relevant legislation.
Also on Tuesday, Minister of Transport Wajih Azaizeh met his Palestinian counterpart, with talks covering means to bolster partnerships between the countries and issues of shared interest.
The two sides also emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation, mainly in smart apps, Petra added.
Azaizeh said that Jordan is moving towards easing individuals and cargo movement between the two sides, in addition to Palestinian traders' use of Aqaba port to exportation and importation.
The Palestinian minister called for rehabilitating Prince Mohammad Bridge, as an inlet to facilitate goods flow between both sides.
