Carlos Malliaroudakis, general manager of InterContinental Jordan, is happy to announce the recent promotion of Akef Al Hassan, the current area quality & continuous improvement manager, as the new director front office & area quality and continuous improvement effective february 1st 2019.

Adopting a dynamic yet strategic approach to handling business, Mr Akef embarked in his hospitality journey from Jordan as a quality & continuous improvement manager.

His success in overlooking GECI Projects has given him the opportunity to grow into Cluster & then Area roles.  Furthermore, he was able to enrich his experience through leading several international projects including spending a couple of months in South Africa working with 7 properties on a Guest Experience Improvement Project.

And also, by participating last summer in the pre-opening project of 14 Holiday Inn Express properties in India

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Jordan participates in ‘Wayfarer Programme’ by Tikyet Um Ali

At an event organised by Tikyet Um Ali, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Jordan team participated in the Wayfarer programme in serving hot meals, for 400 wayfarers on Sunday, February 17. 

The hotel’s participation comes to assist Tkiyet Um Ali’s in achieving its goals towards fighting hunger and playing a key role in achieving food security in Jordan.

The partnership is also meant to raise awareness to encourage creating partnerships with local and international players in both private and public sectors.

On this occasion Michael Nugent, vice president of operations, Levant & Pakistan, stated: “We are honoured to partner with the esteemed NGO Tkiyet Um Ali and support those less fortunate, by offering them the opportunity to reconnect over nutritious meals.”

All families supported by Tkiyet Um Ali live in extreme poverty with no source of income, as classified by set criteria and verified through field visits by the organisation, on a regular basis.

Hayat FM renews partnership with Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh parenting magazines

Hayat FM has signed a cooperation agreement with Al Marji’ Publications, publisher of Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh parenting magazines, for the fifth consecutive year.

The agreement, signed by Musa Saket, founder and chairperson of Hayat FM radio station and Hind-Lara Mango, publisher and managing director at Al Marji’ Publications, reflects their mutual goals as the two sides work to raise awareness about family values and parenting through expert contributions.

During the signing, Saket expressed his satisfaction with this sustainable partnership with Al Marji’ publications “which helps serve the family, the core and pillar of society.

Hayat FM considers this partnership an effective way to reach families because Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh and Family Flavours focus on the family and community”, he added.

Royal Jordanian’s Crown Lounge welcomes MasterCard holders

Royal Jordanian (RJ) and MasterCard have sealed an agreement to grant holders of its World Elite, World, Titanium, and Platinum consumer and commercial-branded credit and debit cards (issued in certain countries) lounge services.

Royal Jordanian now grants cardholders access to the facilities of the Crown Lounge at Queen Alia International Airport prior to their flight departure, irrespective of the airline they are using.

The Crown Lounge provides a variety of food and beverage offerings, a business area with a range of services, Wi-Fi connectivity, TV, and library facilities. It also offers relaxation, praying, smoking and kids’ entertainment areas. In comment, RJ President/CEO Stefan Pichler said: “Royal Jordanian is pleased to contract with a renowned company like MasterCard.

We are glad to offer MasterCard cardholders a world-class service in the relaxing ambiance of the Crown Lounge, which is one of the compelling air and ground amenities that the airline offers its guests.”

Attractive RJ fares for travel to Europe

Royal Jordanian (RJ) is running a new sales promo, offering enticing prices from Amman to its European destinations. Run under the theme “Direct to Europe. Book Now!” these reduced fares can be purchased between February 17 and 24, for travel to take place between March 15 and December 20, 2019.

Maximum stay in the country of destination is one month and the minimum is three days. The offer is valid for a round-trip travel that has to start from Amman to RJ’s routes on the European continent.

The fares, including taxes, are as follows: to Copenhagen JD309, to Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna JD360, to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Geneva, Zurich, Madrid, Paris, Rome and Moscow JD460, and to London JD560.

Interested travellers can book Economy Class tickets across all RJ sales channels, including through rj.com and mobile app, its sales offices and travel agents, and the call centre (+962 5100000). RJ passengers codeshares with Etihad Airways

Royal Jordanian (RJ) and Etihad Airways announced a new codeshare partnership which will provide their customers with greater access to key leisure and business destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe, North Africa and Canada.

The codeshare flights will be open for sale on February 7, 2019, with the first travel date from February 15. This is the first such partnership between the two airlines, who offer multiple daily services between their hubs in Amman and Abu Dhabi.

The partnership will see RJ place its “RJ” code on Etihad Airways services from Amman to Abu Dhabi and vice versa, and then from the UAE capital to Brisbane and Seoul.

Subject to government approvals, RJ will also place its code on Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calicut, Cochin, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Manila, Beijing and Shanghai. In turn, Etihad Airways will place its “EY” code on Royal Jordanian’s flights from Abu Dhabi via Amman to Larnaca and Berlin, while Algiers, Tunis, Vienna and Montreal will be added to the agreement soon.

In remarks, Stefan Pichler, Royal Jordanian’s President and CEO, said: “We are delighted to have Etihad Airways beside our codeshare partners who help us grow in different markets. This move is bound to satisfy the needs of many RJ customers wishing to fly to Asia and Australia.”

King Hussein Business Park launches Phase I of its expansion, financed by Housing Bank

The Business Park Company; the developer of the King Hussein Business Development Zone (KHBP), signed a loan agreement with the Housing Bank, to finance the development and construction of five new buildings as part of phase one of the expansion plan for the KHBP Development Zone.

Phase I includes the addition of approximately 40,000 square metres of office space to the existing Business Park site.

The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Bank Ammar Al Safadi and Soud Soror, chief executive officer of King Hussein Business Park, in the presence of Atef Tell, chairman of King Hussein Business Park.

The expansion comes in response to the increasing market demand for offices at KHBP. 

Family Flavours & Nakahat Ailiyeh support Queen Rania Teacher Academy

Family Flavours and Nakahat Ailiyeh parenting magazines will support the Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) to promote the upcoming Teacher Skills Forum in March 2019.

“We are happy to work with Family Flavours and Nakahat Ailiyeh to highlight the Teacher Skills Forum, in its fifth year, to a wider audience and to stress the importance of investing in continuous teacher development,” said Abdel Majeed Shamlawi, strategic development director at the QRTA.

“This is the third year we support such an important forum, which is very much relevant to our readers who are parents, educators and academics,” explains Hind-Lara Mango, publisher and managing director of Al Marji’ Publications.

Family Flavours and Nakahat Ailiyeh, produced by Al Marji Publications, are Jordan’s only parenting magazines.

They have been chosen by the QRTA to highlight the Teacher Skills Forum at the Dead Sea, an annual forum that attracts over 2,000 educators from all over the world.
